Windows Server 2016 Essential :- Windows server 2016 essential edition is designed for small businesses it corresponds to windows small businesses server for earlier version windows server. This edition allows up to 25 user and 50 device. It support two process core and up to 25GB of RAM and it dose not support many of feature of windows server 2016 including virtualization.
Windows Server 2016 Standards :- Windows Server 2016 Standards edition is designed for physical server environments with little or no virtualization it provide many of the roles and feature available for the windows server 2016 operating system. This edition supports up to 64 socket and up to 4TB of RAM. It includes licence for up to virtual machines.Windows Server 2016 Datacenter :- Windows Server 2016 Datacenter is designed for highly virtualization infrastructure and including private cloud environments. This edition support up to 64 socket, up to 640 processor cores and up to 4TB of RAM it includes unlimited virtual machine license and new feature like, storage space direct.
Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V :- Windows server 2016 hyper-v edition Act as a stand alone virtualization server for virtualization machine a new feature this edition supports 64 socket and up to 4TB of RAM and it support domain joining. Dose not have GUI and it does not supports windows server 2016 roles other than limited file services feature.Windows server 2016 Storage workgroup :- Acts as entry level storage appliance, This editions allows 50 user, one processor core and 32GB of RAM and it supports domain joining.
Windows Server 2016 Storage Standard :- It support some roles, including domain name system (DNS), and Dynamic Host configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server roles , but does not supports others, Including active directory domain name services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), or Active Directory Federation Service (ADFS), and up to 4TB RAM and supports up to 64 socket but is licence on a two socket.
