What is fiber optic cable?

It is a thin and flexible wire made of Silica Glass or Plastic, that is, inside it, there are several small and thin strands of wire through which data is transmitted, and the diameter of each of its rashes is approximately one human.

- If we talk about the design of Fiber optical cable, then it has many layers, the innermost part of which the data flows is made of silica glass or plastic, it is called Core.

-The top part of it is called Cladding, also made of silica material, and has a plastic layer and Kevlar on top of it, and then the top one is called an outer jacket.

Understand Fiber optic cable in point

-Fiber-optic cabling is the most expensive type of network cable.

-It send data in the form of light beams.

-Fiber optics cable is completely immune to EMI (Electromagnetic Interference and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).

-This cable can transmit data over a long distance at the highest speed.

How does work fiber optic cable?

Rays of light are used to send data in fiber optic cable, now small transmitters are installed from where the data has to be sent.

Which converts the data given by us into electronic pulse information. Which are a form of light in a way, now the rays of light are converted from these fiber optic cables to one end.

There are two types of Fiber Optic Cable

1.      1. Single-Mode fiber optic cable

2.      2. Multi-Mode fiber optic cable

Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable

-It work on Half-duplex mode that why we use two different cables to send and receive at a time.

-To use a single-mode fiber optics cable, the diameter of the glass fiber core should be better.

-The bandwidth of single-mode fiber optics is also higher than multi-mode fiber optics

-It use fiber optic cables laser light as the light source.

Multi-Mode Fiber Optic Cable:-

-In multi-mode fiber optic cable has multiple glass core we can receive data and send data with a single cable.

-The multi-mode fiber optic is used for short distances because the opening of its core is very high which causes light bounce and reflect.

-Multi-Mode Fiber Optic Cable use LED as a light source.

-Due to the Larger Diameter, a lot of light pulses can pass the cable in different modes at the same time

-The multimode fiber optic cable is divided into 4 parts OM1, OM2, OM3, and OM4 divided into OM4 standards approved by TIA / EIA 492AAAD.

There are 2 modes of multimode fiber

1. Gradient Index Multimode Fiber Optic cable

The multi-mode fiber optic cable is most commonly used. In this multi-mode fiber optic cable, the light travels much slower than the cladding on the axis, and the refractive index of the light decreases towards the cladding from the center axis.

2. Step Index multimode fiber optic cable

In this multi-mode fiber optic cable, light travels as zigzag and bounces further cladding the fiber optics to another light in different modes.

When different modes start growing in fiber optic cable, the signal loses its shape, as it was getting in fiber earlier.

Why is fiber optic cable so Protected?

CORE:-Core carries the data signals in the form of light.

CLADDING:-Cladding reflects light back to the core.

COATING:- This layer of thicker plastic is also known as the primary buffer.

BUFFER:- Buffer protects the light from leaking.

JACKET:- The jacket protects the cable from physical damage.
