There are five type of router and its different different series 

1. Branch Router
2. Internet Edge Router
3. Service Provider Router
4. Router Classification
5. Modular Router

Where is the router installed and whose work is it. And all cisco router series are written one by one. The series of a 5-type Cisco router is written

1. Branch Router

Used mainly by small Organization.

Series ISR Integrated Services Routers.

Cisco Router Series:- 800

Cisco Router Series:- 1800

Cisco Router Series:- 1900

Cisco Router Series:- 2900

Cisco Router Series:- 3800

Cisco Router Series:- 4000 series (ISR).

2. Internet Edge Router

Used by ISPs and for policy based routing and access control.

Series ASR Aggregation Services Routers

Cisco Router Series:- 1000

Cisco Router Series:- 7300

Cisco Router Series:- 7600 Series (ASR).

3. Service Provider Router

Used by Global ISPs and for faster switching across internet.

4. Router Classification

Fixed Router

All ports are integreted on motherboard (no slots).

Non Upgradable cannot add and remove the interfaces.

5. Modular Router

Have slots where you can add or remove cards. 

Distribution and Core layers Routers example of Modular Router.

What is the router interface

Interfaces have following functions

Connect router to network can be on the motherboard or a separate module.

LAN PORTS: (RJ45)

Ethernet	10Mbps
Fast Ethernet	100Mbps
Gigabits Ethernet	1000Mbps

What is wan port

Stand for Wide Area Network. This network is used to connect a state, country or country.

Serial ports 60 pin and 26 pin smart serial

What is the External Ports of Router

Console Ports:-

Used for local administration, Initial Configuration, Password Recovery

It is RJ45 Port.

 Auxiliary Port:-

Used for remote administration

Its an RJ45 ports

A console or a rollover cable it to be used.

NOTE:-PRI and BRI ports:-These both ports are available for ISDM configuration that not use now these days.
